New Prague Area Schools board certifies November referendum, approves $510-per-pupil levy

The certified totals read into the record were 3,957 votes for yes, 2,049 votes for no and 59 spoiled, defective or blank ballots, for a total of 6,006 ballots cast. The resolution describes the proposal as an increase in the district's general education revenue of $510 per pupil, subject to annual inflation adjustments. The proposed new referendum revenue authorization would be first levied in 2025 for taxes payable in 2026 and applied for 10 years unless revoked or reduced as permitted by law.
The resolution cites Minnesota statutory requirements for post-canvass notification and instructs the district clerk to notify the Commissioner of Education and provide certified vote totals in writing within 15 days after the board’s certification.
Earlier in the meeting the board led the Pledge of Allegiance and approved the meeting agenda on a 6–0 voice vote. After certifying the election results, the board adjourned the meeting and proceeded to a scheduled work session.
Board Chair praised voters and district staff for the campaign communication and volunteer support, saying, "It was, it was a joy to see that voters decided that we will not be going backwards in our programs that we have and that we are not going to be making cuts." The board record includes no further substantive discussion or amendments to the resolution during the meeting.
Next steps noted in the resolution are statutory: the clerk must notify the Minnesota Commissioner of Education and submit the certified totals within the statutory 15-day period following certification. No additional board action on the referendum was recorded at this meeting.
