Pryor Creek council authorizes mayor to seek estimates and consultations for city hall roof

The Pryor Creek City Council voted Oct. 14 to authorize Mayor (S3) to obtain consultations and ballpark cost estimates for a replacement of the city hall roof and to delegate the formal bidding process to the infrastructure department once specifications are defined.
Mayor (S3) described rust visible under the eaves and said leaks have occurred under snow and wind-driven conditions. He said the city’s insurer (OMAG) has denied prior roof-related claims and that the city has set aside capital for replacement. “Planning on about a 100,000, maybe a little bit more, is my guesstimate,” he said.
Council members agreed the city should begin with consultations to determine scope (square footage, removable steeple/wind vane considerations and whether a metal roof is preferable to shingles) and to avoid repeated short-term repairs. When consultations produce a clear specification, infrastructure staff will post and manage the bid process.
No final construction contract was awarded at the meeting; the council approved only the step to obtain estimates and to proceed to formal bids through infrastructure.
