The Town of Middletown Conservation Commission on Nov. 10 approved minutes from its July 14 meeting and elected new officers, including Melissa as chair, Phil as vice chair and Matthew Skrzesinski as secretary.
The meeting opened with Speaker 3 moving to approve the minutes. "I make a motion that we approve the minutes," Speaker 3 said; Speaker 2 seconded and the motion was approved by voice vote.
Outgoing chair (identified in the transcript only as the member who stepped down during the meeting) told members they would remain on the commission as needed but could no longer perform chair duties. The outgoing chair nominated Melissa to serve as chair; Melissa said, "I accept your nomination." Members approved the nomination by voice vote.
Speaker 2 then nominated Phil for vice chair; the nomination was seconded and Phil accepted. Matthew Skrzesinski volunteered to take minutes as secretary and the commission approved that appointment as well.
On scheduling, the commission voted to forgo a December meeting unless a specific project requires review and set the next meeting for 01/12/2026 (listed in the meeting record). The motion to skip December and set the Jan. meeting was moved by Speaker 2, seconded by Speaker 3, and approved by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned by voice vote after routine business.
Next steps: the commission will publish links to documents discussed (see separate item on the Aquidneck Island Watershed Plan) and include suggested agenda items for the Jan. 12, 2026 meeting.
