Uxbridge committee approves $300 for 150 cookies from local baker for First Night

The Town of Uxbridge 300th Anniversary Committee approved a motion Nov. 5 to purchase 150 cookies from a local vendor for distribution at First Night on Dec. 6. The committee decided on a $300 purchase of individually wrapped cookies marked with a "300" design to be produced by a local baker identified in the meeting as Tara's/Sweet B Cookies.

The vote occurred after discussion of whether the cookies should be sold or given away. Committee members agreed to give cookies away and solicit voluntary donations at the committee table rather than run a direct sale. S4 (committee member) presented the vendor's $2-per-cookie quote and S5 moved the purchase; the motion was approved by voice vote with S1 (Chair) announcing that the motion passed.

Members also addressed payment logistics and procurement paperwork. Committee members noted that checks written directly to a "300th commission" could trigger procurement rules and that routing vendor payment through the Historical Society or the Friends of the 300 would simplify administration. The committee confirmed it would follow the established disbursement process for funds collected at the Historical Society and that any necessary tax paperwork (W-9) and vendor documentation would be handled before payment.

The committee did not record a roll-call vote; the approval was announced as passed by voice vote during the meeting.
