The Uxbridge Select Board on a October meeting recognized the Uxbridge Lions Club for its volunteer work maintaining downtown flowerpots and approved two appointments to town committees.
Diane Seeley accepted a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Lions Club, thanking the board and residents for recognition and describing the club’s role in planting and watering the pots and helping residents obtain hearing and vision devices. “The Uxbridge Lions Club is happy to plant and maintain the flower pots, which add beauty to our town,” Seeley said. The board thanked club members and noted donations that supported recent projects, including a historic sign acquisition.
The board also appointed Ryan Casey to the Open Space Committee for a term expiring June 30, 2028, following a brief introduction from Casey about his conservation experience and interest in maintaining public access to local open spaces. Member Plaskett moved the appointment and Member McMillan seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Separately, Diane Picard was moved from an alternate to a full member of the 300th Anniversary Committee to serve through completion of the event; the motion was made and carried unanimously.
The board praised the volunteers and encouraged residents to consider committee service and other civic engagement opportunities; no formal votes or financial commitments accompanied the recognitions beyond the appointments recorded in the meeting.
