The Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved a special permit for a Class 2 motor vehicle dealer at 690 Quaker Highway (FY2609).
Applicant Joseph Sliney said his father previously operated at the site and he seeks to reestablish a vehicle‑sales use at the industrial property. The board confirmed the updated table of uses now defines "vehicle‑related businesses" and that vehicle sales are allowed by ZBA approval in the industrial district.
Sliney proposed hours of operation of 9AM–6PM Monday–Friday and 9AM–2PM Saturday, no Sunday hours, reuse of the existing sign with re‑lettering, no on‑site repair (repairs to occur off‑site), and up to 40 display vehicles. The board checked parking and fire‑access concerns and found sufficient off‑street parking for 40 vehicles. After brief questions and public inspection of the site, Tom moved and Donna seconded a motion to grant the special permit with conditions limiting hours, signage, parking (max 40 display vehicles external to the building), and prohibiting on‑street parking and on‑site auto repairs. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff will draft the decision and the applicant must obtain the Class 2 dealer license from the Board of Selectmen in addition to this land‑use permit.
