Public Safety Committee recommends crosswalks, stop sign and no-parking on Crown Shield to Select Board

After a site visit to the Autumn Ridge/Crown Shield neighborhood, the Town of Uxbridge Public Safety Committee recommended three coordinated measures: two new crosswalks (one at Hyde Park to serve Kings Forest and one across Cotton Mill), installation (or re-recording) of a stop sign at the Cotton Mill/Crown Shield intersection, and a no-parking designation on the upper easterly side of Crown Shield.

Committee Member (S3) moved that "the Public Safety Committee forward to the Select Board a recommendation for 2 crosswalks...for 1 stop sign on Cotton Mill and recommendation on no parking on the Upper Easterly Side of Crown Shield." The motion was seconded and carried.

DPW staff (S6) told the committee the contractor is expected to install sidewalks and crosswalk elements required by the approved subdivision plans; staff has asked the contractor for a schedule and will update the Select Board when the contractor responds. The committee asked staff to ensure ADA ramping where needed and to confirm which sidewalk segments are town‑accepted versus private. No funding appropriation was approved at the meeting; the committee's action was a forwarding recommendation to the Select Board.

The matter will move to the Select Board for formal acceptance and any necessary capital allocation.
