Sediment traced between basins at Tea Party Drive; camera inspection planned

The Uxbridge Conservation Commission on Nov. 3 reviewed an update on a reported sediment issue at the Tea Party Drive development (DEP 3121086). A site representative (speaker 7) told the commission that sediment had moved from Basin 3A into Basin 3; staff temporarily capped the discharge and installed a floc log at the outfall as a precaution.
“I do have a camera going in the pipes on Thursday,” the site representative said, reporting that drone footage would also be shared with the commission. Staff said the visible soil surface looked stable, and they planned seeding in the spring. The conservation agent (Jeff, speaker 6) said he visited the site and observed a plume in Detention Basin 3 but “it did not appear to be massive” and crews were actively cleaning the basin and outlet controls.
Speakers said the recent re-routing of a drain so that Upper Crown Shield now discharges to Basin 3A likely contributed to the timing of sediment movement during a heavier rain. The site manager said underdrain piping or residual construction sediment are possible sources and that the camera inspection is intended to determine whether a crushed or broken pipe is the cause. The commission asked to be updated after the camera inspection and for any planned corrective work to be coordinated with an engineer and shared with staff.
Outcome: Staff will run the pipe camera inspection and report findings back to the conservation commission; no enforcement action was recorded at the Nov. 3 meeting.
