Trophy Club, Texas — During its Nov. 10 meeting the Town Council approved routine consent agenda items and then cast its statutory votes for candidates to the Denton Central Appraisal District (DCAD) board before recessing to an executive session on personnel.
The council approved consent agenda items 3–9 after Council Member (Speaker 8) moved to approve and another council member seconded; the mayor called for hands and the motion passed. After consent, staff returned to the dais for individual agenda items.
On Item 10, staff explained the town has eight votes to cast for four applicants to the Denton Central Appraisal District board and that the council could allocate the eight votes among candidates as it wished. Council Member Stacy (Speaker 2) moved to split the eight votes 4 and 4 between two candidates identified as Mike and Anne; Jeff (Speaker 9) seconded the motion. The mayor called for votes and the motion passed by voice/hand vote.
The council then announced a recess to an executive session under Texas Government Code section 551.074 to discuss personnel matters related to the town manager; no public action was taken during the executive session announcement.
What this means: the consent agenda passed and the town’s allocated DCAD votes were cast as specified; staff indicated the council will reconvene and take any required follow-up action as needed after the executive session.
