Miss Mossman, the district staff member presenting human resources updates, told the personnel committee that Pennridge is launching a co‑op initiative with Upper Bucks County Technical School to place students in nutritional services, maintenance and transportation roles. "We have collaborated a lot over the last few months, to just really make this a successful program for our students," she said.
The program initially placed five students: Ben Yoder and Becca Rosales (culinary arts), Milka Rosales and Karen Salazar (culinary/hospitality/food science track), and Logan Shafer (HVAC). Miss Mossman said staff mentors volunteered from Nutrition Services and the transportation garage and that the district has scheduled onboarding and additional interviews in the coming week.
Lisa Wok, school‑to‑work coordinator at Upper Bucks County Technical School, described the co‑op model as paid, mentored workplace learning: "Learning on the job is really the best kind of way to go," she said, noting last year the tech‑school placed about 130 students who collectively earned $811,000 through co‑op work. The district expects the initial cohort to expand if the program proves successful.
Board members asked about selection and duration. Miss Mossman said positions are posted at the tech school, students apply, and finalists proceed through the district interview and onboarding process. Because many participants are seniors, placements are open‑ended: seniors typically leave after graduation while juniors may return for senior‑year placement if openings exist.
The personnel committee did not take a formal vote on the co‑op announcement; Miss Mossman said the next steps are interviews, onboarding and coordination with the technology department to identify possible placements for computer science students. The personnel committee is scheduled to meet next on Jan. 12, 2026.
