Lake County High students honored for leadership; student government recaps fall activities

The Lake County Board of Education recognized student achievements and heard a student government report during its Nov. 19 meeting.

The board recognized Caitlin (recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution citizenship award) and Emma Morgan, who was elected 2026 state president of Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) and will represent the state in Washington, D.C.. School staff noted Emma's leadership and that she will attend a national meeting in December.

Members of the FFA chapter described the October trip to the national FFA convention in Indianapolis, listing events and competitions and thanking the board for approval to attend. Student presenters described career-technical education showcases and campus visits as part of college and career preparation.

Student body president Mariah Valentine delivered the monthly LCHS report, listing events such as the CTE Fall Fest, Morgan Newton trick-or-treat, ACT/ASVAB testing, sports records (football finished 5–5) and an upcoming night of music on Dec. 9. She also highlighted regional competitions for CTE clubs and scholarship recipients among seniors.

The recognitions and student reports were celebratory and informational; no formal board action was required.
