Galena Park ISD honors coaches for life‑saving action, spotlights Green Valley Elementary

At its Nov. 10 meeting Galena Park ISD trustees paused to recognize two coaches who used an automated external defibrillator (AED) and administered CPR to stabilize a student during a recent football practice.
"Because of their quick action, bravery, and dedication, the student was stabilized and his life was immediately saved," a trustee said while presenting the recognition. Trustees and administrators thanked the coaches and emphasized the importance of preparation and staff training.
The board also heard an academic spotlight from Lakeisha Washington, principal of Green Valley Elementary School. Washington presented a video and described efforts that helped the campus improve its state rating from a D to a B, citing strategies such as progress monitoring, parent engagement and targeted interventions.
Trustees praised the campus leadership and staff for rapid improvement and community engagement during public remarks.
