Bethel Park council approves application for two police drones funded by local-share grant

Bethel Park Borough Council unanimously voted to apply for $29,785 in Local Share Account (LSA) funds to acquire two police drones.
Council Member Kamenicki said the drones were included in the capital budget but the borough would seek LSA funds to avoid using capital reserves. "This is just for two police drones that were on the capital budget, but we are going to try to get those funded through this fund instead," Kamenicki said.
The resolution (R11-10-25A) was moved, seconded, and passed 6–0. Council members did not record additional debate on drone capabilities or operational policies during the meeting; the motion only authorized submission of the grant application.
Next steps: If the grant is awarded, municipal staff will procure the drones per grant conditions and any applicable departmental rules.
