Erath County Commissioners on Nov. 10 approved several procurement and financial items proposed by county staff, including purchases for the sheriff's office, an award of outside audit services and routine budget clean-up adjustments.

The sheriff’s office reported that prior planning to spend $40,000 on JPX systems could be scaled back. The sheriff recommended buying seven JPX units with level-2 retention holsters to improve officer safety (quoted total $7,763) and seven Mossberg patrol shotguns (quoted $3,150). The court approved the purchases.

On audit services, the court reviewed proposals from three firms and—based on staff and department recommendations—awarded the outside-audit RFP to Eide Bailly (transcript references the firm variously). The judge provided estimated audit costs, including a county audit line (approximately $59,000) and potential single-audit amounts depending on grant thresholds; staff noted a possible total near $101,500 if all audits are required.

The court also approved a set of end-of-year, net-zero budget adjustments and authorized payment of presented invoices and recurring payables in packets that totaled $442,066.53, as presented by the county auditor. The judge said detailed adjustments will be included in the meeting minutes for public review.
