District administrative staff recommended that Wichita Falls ISD purchase wrestling startup equipment and associated items for both Memorial and Legacy high schools at a total cost of $182,023.04, to be paid from fund balance for the 2026–27 school year. The item would add wrestling as a UIL sport at both campuses.

Staff said the wrestling community in Wichita Falls has grown and that the sport can provide students with discipline, resilience and leadership opportunities. Trustees asked whether coaches had been identified; staff said the district has not yet filled the coaching positions and that they might be hired from outside the district or by moving a current staff member and providing a stipend. The presenter recommended placing the purchase on the consent agenda for approval at a future meeting.
