Katy, Texas — Representatives from the Houston‑Galveston Area Council (HGAC) briefed Katy City Council during the Nov. 10 public‑comment period on a new regional funding development program meant to help smaller governments compete for grants.
Megan Lyons, HGAC funding development manager, said the program provides direct technical grant assistance — identifying opportunities, drafting and reviewing proposals, and strengthening internal grant systems — to help member governments pursue projects for infrastructure, housing, public safety, broadband and resilience. "Our goal is simple — to bring more resources into the region and help governments turn great ideas into momentum," Lyons said.
Raquel Meyer, HGAC special projects manager, described broader board priorities including health care, housing, broadband, water and economic development and said HGAC aims to expand public‑private partnerships and long‑term grant capacity for member jurisdictions. Both presenters encouraged the City of Katy to review program details on HGAC's website and consider applying.
The item was presented during the public‑comment portion of the agenda and no formal council action was required.
