The board voted unanimously on Nov. 10 to authorize staff to advertise Request for Proposal No. 2526-02 for pupil transportation services as the district’s current contract expires at the end of the school year.

Michelle, the district’s purchasing/transportation staff member, told the board the RFP was prepared with input from the purchasing agent, transportation supervisor and legal counsel and includes updated contractor benefit language. The district will release the RFP on Nov. 14 and aims to bring proposals for award in January.

The procurement is a cooperative effort with Hawkinson School District. Michelle said the joint procurement increases economies of scale, can secure a more favorable rate and places the districts in a different state funding level that benefits both partners.

Vote and timeline: The motion to approve advertising the RFP passed 5–0. Staff will publish the RFP on Nov. 14 and return to the board with a proposed award in January.
