The Ocala City Council unanimously approved rezoning ZON25‑0014 to change a 3.57‑acre rear portion of a 5.06‑acre parcel from M‑1 (light industrial) to M‑2 (medium industrial) to allow outdoor storage in support of the adjacent repair/assembly facility.
Emily Johnson of Ocala’s Growth Management Department said the requested rezoning aligns with the property’s employment‑center future land‑use designation and noted that outdoor storage is permitted without limit in M‑2 zoning. Johnson told the council staff found no expansion of existing nonconforming residential uses would occur and that utilities and service capacity were available.
Fred Roberts, agent for the applicant, said the rezoning is intended to allow expansion of Mickey’s Truck Bodies and avoid split zoning by combining parcels after conveyance. “It would become effective upon conveyance, and then those parcels would then be combined,” Roberts said, describing local demand for repair, assembly and outdoor storage uses at the site.
Public comment was opened and closed with no speakers. The council moved, seconded and approved ZON25‑0014 by unanimous roll call.
