The Germantown Tourism Commission voted Nov. 10 to provide $8,000 in support to Visit Washington County for 2026 after a presentation on the group’s visitor guide, advertising and distribution.
Kathy Malmans, executive director of Visit Washington County, said the group's printed visitor guide is a major annual project (50,000 copies) distributed through partner newspapers, visitor centers and events; she cited pockets of increased readership from Madison-area insertions and said the guide and digital promotions highlight Germantown pages, parks and events. "The mission of Visit Washington County is to connect our communities within the county, providing visitors with the resources to plan and enjoy their stay here," Malmans said.
Malmans asked the commission to consider restoring support to the $8,000 level, noting that membership in Visit Washington County costs $225 per year (early-bird $200 through Dec. 31) and members receive listings in the printed guide and on the website. A motion to approve the $8,000 request was made and seconded; the chair called the question and announced the motion carried.
Next steps: staff will process the disbursement to Visit Washington County and continue coordination on guide content and membership recruitment.
