Staff described the project as relocating an existing, poorly performing lift station near a creek and a roadway to a location on developer-owned property that will be more accessible and less costly to construct. The earlier design had depths approaching 40 feet, raising substantial additional construction costs; subsequent redesign work brought the anticipated depth back to about 30 feet.
"Lift Station Number 5 is getting replaced and relocated... That is getting moved back on their property behind Napa," an engineer said, summarizing the relocation and the rationale. Staff said the additional design work cost is $20,000 and the design change is expected to save approximately $102,000 in construction expenditures.
Council authorized the mayor to sign the additional services agreement to cover the design work; the motion carried by voice vote.
