Megan Duvall presented the nomination for the William and Christine Kiernan House at 620 West 16th Avenue, describing the property’s architecture and historical associations. The house, platted in 1891 as part of the South Side Cable Addition and built by William Kiernan in 1908, is a largely intact example of craftsman style in the American Foursquare form with original woodwork, beveled glass, and masonry details.
Duvall said the house may be a slightly modified example of a plan by William Ballard and that its materials and interior details remain largely intact. The nomination package recommended eligibility under Category C for architecture and Category B for association with Kiernan, who was active in Spokane real‑estate development and later had a national banking career. The Spokane Historic Landmarks Commission reviewed the nomination and voted the property eligible for listing on the Spokane Register of Historic Places.
