Board recognizes teachers with top proficiency results

Board members and district staff recognized a group of teachers for having the highest proficiency rates in their classrooms for the prior year, presenting certificates and classroom banners.
Dr. Weeks and board members called individual teachers forward by grade and subject — for example, Dawn Amaya (third grade ELA), Tanya Batson (third grade math), Erica Newman (third grade science), and others — and presented certificates and decals or banners for classroom display. "So it is my pleasure to recognize these teachers…they know their content, and they have made sure their kids know it," Dr. Weeks said.
Board members posed for individual photos and a group picture was scheduled in the professional development room. The board expressed collective appreciation for teachers' work and acknowledged the personal and instructional impact of their achievements.
