Council proclaims Red Ribbon Week; honors volunteer-run community festival

Officer Julie Marquez of the Cypress Police Department presented a Red Ribbon Week proclamation, explaining the campaign's prevention focus and the slogan "Life is a puzzle. Solve it drug free." She described recent outreach to students and the value of honest conversations with youth.
The council also recognized the Cypress Community Festival Association for its volunteer efforts and highlighted this year's festival: an estimated attendance of over 8,000, 136 booths (including 20 food booths, 20 chili and salsa booths, 60 vendor booths and 36 Chamber Business Expo booths), 90+ classic cars and numerous community partners. Festival president Jimmy Fuller said booth-survey results were the highest since post-pandemic surveys, with 82% of booths rating the event 4 out of 5 or higher.
