Student advisory committee members highlight collaboration and ideas for student life

Board members heard from the student advisory committee on Nov. 10 about how the panel connects students and division leadership. Dr. Wilkerson described the committee as a forum to provide student perspectives on policy and programs; students from multiple schools then spoke about collaboration and bringing concerns back to their campuses.
"We can voice our students' concerns," said Angelo Anderson, a senior at Alta Vista. Students described using a hypothetical $1,000 allocation to prioritize classroom desks and chairs, and seniors suggested ways to improve cafeteria experience, including rotating lunch shifts and expanding food options. Board members praised the committee for leadership lessons and cross‑school collaboration and said the program will continue to focus on school safety, appreciation activities and technology.
The board asked the students to remain through the meeting for photos and thanked them for representing peers across the division.
