Community Development staff presented a special-event permit request from the Crusaders of Saint Jude to operate a charity Christmas tree lot at 200 South Lincoln Avenue from Friday, Nov. 28 through Tuesday, Dec. 23, with weekday hours 5–8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sunday noon–4 p.m. The site plan showed placement across the street from the renovation site and requested a banner and a 4-by-8 sign as part of the permit.
Staff recommended approval with the condition that the O'Fallon Public Safety Department will monitor weather and reserve authority to suspend the event if imminent life-safety threats arise. Committee members had no substantive objections and voted to approve the permit and forward it to full council as required by ordinance.
