The Franklin City Beer Board voted Nov. 11 to approve an on‑premises liquor permit for Hyatt Place Franklin (Hotel Franklin LLC) following a presentation by the hotel’s front office manager, Michael Valentine. The hotel applied under new ownership and seeks to reinstate alcohol service that was removed during the transition.
"We got rid of all our alcohol once the transition took place because they didn't have their license for the state of Tennessee. So we're just trying to get that license renewed under the new ownership," Michael Valentine said, describing the operations and the hotel's efforts to maintain compliance. Staff told the board that Valentine holds a current TABC server permit and that other staff will work toward obtaining theirs.
Board members asked about food service, how beer would be dispensed and staffing levels; Valentine said alcohol would be personally dispensed at a small bar area adjacent to the front desk, with food prepared in a separate kitchen. The board moved to approve the permit; a roll call vote recorded yes votes from Alderman Armand Barnhill, Alderman Caesar and the chair.
The permit approval allows the hotel to resume limited on‑premises alcohol service under the new ownership and subject to the operational controls the manager described.
