Leonardtown updates public art plan and wastewater expansion; local ribbon-cutting set for Nov. 22

Jennifer Risner, presenting the New Main Street report on Nov. 10, announced a ribbon-cutting for a Foods/Bagels brand opening on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 8:30 a.m. She also described a small-side grant round with limited funds (examples cited in discussion included $9,500 and $6,000) and reminded applicants of application deadlines.
Risner said the public art master plan has roughly 100 survey responses and is on schedule for a February approval to meet the grant deadline. She described broad resident input and expressed optimism about the plan.
On utilities, council and staff reported progress on the wastewater treatment plant expansion: the lagoon that had been blocking contractor work was emptied last week, allowing ABNH to complete lagoon cleanout and turn the site over to the contractor. Staff said the water tower and well work are on schedule and hoped both would be wrapped up by February.
The report combined economic-development, arts, and utilities updates; council members thanked staff and volunteers for event planning and community engagement.
