Council postpones Camel/Cameliere Drive stormwater work; council records mixed award language for two smaller drainage projects

In formal action, Councilmember (speaker 4) moved “to award the stormwater management improvement project including the Academy Hill subdivision and Single Tree development…for $66,643 and to postpone the improvements on Cameliere Drive until fiscal year 2027.” The motion as read during the meeting text named Rainbow Construction LLC as the awardee. The motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The record in the meeting therefore contains two different contractor names connected to the $66,643 combined award: staff recommended Grainboat Construction LLC as the low bidder, while the motion text used the name Rainbow Construction LLC. Town staff will need to reconcile the procurement record and the council motion in the final contract documentation.
Council also discussed short-term measures such as cleaning stormwater inlets and street sweeping to mitigate runoff until the postponed large project can be funded.
Next steps identified in the discussion include finalizing award paperwork for the combined $66,643 projects and scheduling the Camel/Cameliere Drive work for FY2027 pending budget approval.
