Superintendent Talia presented a preview of a unified district website to replace the Blackboard interface being retired in December; planned features include a district-level site with individual school pages, Google Calendar sync, an emergency pop-up and centralized links to Skyward and payments.
Talia (superintendent; Speaker 10) presented a preview of a new Othello School District website the district plans to launch to replace the Blackboard-based sites whose interface is being retired in December. "We're hoping to launch it, by the end of this week," Talia said, and she planned to circulate a link to board members for feedback.
Talia said the district will host individual school pages under a single district domain to make updates easier while retaining the option for schools to keep their original domains. The site will include a Google Calendar integration so principals can update school calendars and have those events appear automatically on the website; a pop-up notification system will allow immediate posting of emergency or closure information. Core quick links — Skyward, menus, bus routes, final forms and online payments — will be prioritized on the home page. Talia said the site uses the language from the district strategic plan ("believe, achieve, belong, empower, and dreams for all").
Board members responded positively and thanked staff for the work. No formal action or vote was recorded on the website preview; staff will send board members a review link for comment.
