The Chickasha Public Schools Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation to bring dental screenings and cavity protection to second-grade students.

Speaker 6 described the program and said it "does require parents to give consent for the exam and give consent for the cavity protection," and emphasized the program "does not cost us any money, doesn't cost the families any money." Legal counsel reviewed the MOU and reported other districts have used the agreement with positive results.

Board members asked whether the program will be limited to second grade this year and were told the agreement's language still lists second and sixth grade but Delta Dental will only offer second grade this year; the district can expand to additional grades in the future if the foundation/funding allows. The board moved and approved the MOU by motion and roll-call vote.

Next steps: staff will coordinate parental consent materials and schedule visits from the Delta Dental team.
