The Monroe County Council voted unanimously to approve a $4,500 category transfer in the Youth Services Bureau fund to support part‑time staff at the Binkley House emergency shelter. Vanessa Schmidt, YSB, told the council the part‑time staff provide coverage for leave, vacations and increased youth counts requiring a third staffer.
Council also approved an additional $1,500 appropriation to record donations received for upcoming events and trainings: $350 from Firefly Children and Family Alliance, $150 from Hopscotch Coffee, and $500 from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, plus an additional $500 from a training subcommittee. Staff said the donations will support YSB’s tenth annual summit and de‑escalation training.
Both actions passed on roll call with no public comment.
