Mason council approves capital contracts, event funding and 2026 budget
Summary

- A two-year entertainment booking authorization of up to $350,000 and a production authorization up to $180,000 for the Red Rhythm Boom event cycle (2027–28 bookings and 2026 production), to give staff flexibility in a volatile live-entertainment market.
- A supplemental appropriation to exercise a contractual clawback that allows the city to repurchase property it sold earlier when the buyer could not perform; staff said repurchase terms call for a 90% repurchase price per the original agreement and the appropriation will enable closing.
- Adoption of the 2026 annual appropriation ordinance (the city budget). City Manager Eric framed the budget as conservative and focused on capital priorities, rebuilding reserves and strategic long-term prioritization.
Council passed each ordinance by roll call after the usual motion, second and brief discussion. Several items were noted as budgeted or within existing authorizations.
