Board approves BG-1 for RCHS Athletic Performance Complex with initial $7.4 million budget
Summary
The Rockcastle County Board approved the BG-1 application to begin the RCHS Athletic Performance Complex (BG-1 #26-226), setting an initial project budget of $7.4 million and authorizing subsequent design and scope changes; staff also reported pursuit of a USTA grant that could add roughly $140,000 toward tennis courts.
The Rockcastle County Board approved the BG-1 project application that initiates planning for the RCHS Rock Athletic Performance Complex (BG-1 number 26-226).
Trent (project staff) explained the BG-1 serves as the initial project document that captures the project description, delivery method and a budget that sets the scope for future design and amendments. A district staff member said the BG-1 currently shows an initial budget figure of $7,400,000 based on preliminary drawings. ‘‘The total funds available on this BG-1 is 7,400,000.0,’’ the staff member said.
Board members discussed sequencing to avoid overloading staff while other projects proceed; the board was told the BG-1 can be amended if scope or costs change. Staff also reported work on a USTA grant for tennis courts that could bring an estimated $140,000 to the project.
A motion to approve the BG-1 application was made, seconded and approved by the board. District staff said the next steps are architect design and bringing a design recommendation to the board for approval in December (subject to design completion and any scope amendments).
