Kentucky Employers’ Mutual presents safety award to Rockcastle County Schools; district’s experience mod and loss ratio highlighted

Kentucky Employers’ Mutual representative Jeff Floyd presented the 2025 Kimmy Destiny safety award to Rockcastle County Schools during the board meeting, recognizing the district’s workplace-safety performance among 151 eligible school systems.
Floyd said the award criteria included an overall loss ratio and an experience modification factor; he told the board the district’s overall loss ratio is 31% and its experience mod is 0.61. ‘‘Your overall loss ratio with us is 31%, which is outstanding,’’ he said. He added that the district’s annual workers’ compensation premium fell from $73,385 in 2015 to $35,850 this year.
Floyd described safety as a top-down initiative requiring board support and staff buy-in. The presenter noted that only eight systems qualified for the award this year and congratulated the district’s safety partners and agent.
Board members joined presenters and district staff for a photo and thanked insurance and agency partners for their support in reducing risk and costs.
