San Marcos — The City Council unanimously adopted local amendments to align San Marcos with the 2025 California Fire Code and the San Diego County wildland-urban interface (WUI) code on Tuesday.
Division Chief Nalin summarized the triennial update, telling the council, “So this is the triennial fire code and buoy code adoption.” Staff described the local amendments as minor adjustments to reflect San Marcos conditions and to incorporate San Diego County's WUI code with San Marcos-specific changes.
Council moved and voted to adopt Ordinance Nos. 2025-1569 and 2025-1570; no council discussion was reported beyond the staff presentation. The ordinances update Chapter 17.64 and declare local conditions for the San Marcos Fire Protection District’s adoption of state and WUI provisions.
