"We have over 35,000 registered voters in Eddy County. So about 14%," elections staff said during the special meeting as the county prepared the certification documents for signatures. Commissioners compared the figure to 2023 turnout (5,463) and thanked election workers and supporting county departments for their work.
One commissioner moved to approve the certified canvass; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll‑call vote with the clerk presenting the certification for signatures. Staff noted that contests in the county were open to registered voters and confirmed the county had provided outreach, including social media posts, to encourage participation.
The commission did not take further action beyond certification at the meeting. The commission noted its intention to congratulate the winners and proceed with transition and coordination with the incoming officials.
