New Berlin — The school board voted to approve a set of secondary course proposals presented for the 2627 course year, part of a pathway redesign the district said will not add staff but will change course offerings and sequencing.
Director Kelly Kwiatkowski told the board the package includes a semester Accounting course intended as a preparation bridge for students not yet ready for UW-Whitewater dual-enrollment accounting; a two-semester Intro to Computer Science sequence that would embed programming, web design and AI content and allow the district to eliminate some existing semester courses; AP Cybersecurity converted to a year-long AP cybersecurity option; AP Networking for grades 10 3 in later years; and a Developmental Psychology course to be taught on the Eisenhower campus for juniors and seniors.
Kwiatkowski said the proposals are informed by local job outlook, enrollment trends and teacher credentials. She said the computer-science teachers have high AP passing rates and that the redesign would not add FTEs. "This is a redesign of the pathway. It doesn't add FTE, but it does change some courses and outcomes," she said.
The board moved and approved the course proposals by voice vote. The administration said it has budgeted to fund the proposed courses if the board approved them.
What s next: The district will implement the course sequence changes for the 2627 school-year schedule and notify families and students of new offerings and enrollment details.
