Eastlake High student outlines academic, arts and CTE gains; board screens veterans careers video

Eastlake High student body president Ayush Gupta highlighted academic gains, career and technical programs and extracurricular successes; the board also screened a video about veterans training at Pinellas Technical College.
At the Nov. 11 meeting, Ayush Gupta, student body president at Eastlake High School, presented a summary of Eastlake’s academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Gupta said the school showed gains in major content areas (English language arts up 6 points, math up 3, science up 3, social studies up 4) and reported more than 1,400 industry certifications earned by students. He highlighted academies in engineering, biomedical and business, a new makerspace and partnership programs with Johns Hopkins, AdventHealth and BayCare.
The board also viewed a video profiling veterans who retrained at Pinellas Technical College (PTC) in programs such as marine technology and culinary arts. One veteran featured described using GI Bill benefits to enter a 14‑month marine technology program and starting a veteran‑run company employing veterans.
Madam chair praised the video and the Eastlake presentation and noted districtwide veteran celebrations and related events.
