Summary
At the Nov. 10 council meeting Mayor Maureen Tobin proclaimed November DECA month, the council recognized the Lincoln Park High School varsity football team for making the MHSAA playoffs, and drama students invited the public to their production of The Seagull.
Council chambers were full of students and supporters on Nov. 10 as Mayor Maureen Tobin and council used the meeting to highlight several school and community activities.
Tobin read a proclamation declaring November 2025 as DECA month, praising the Lincoln Park High School chapter and advisors Leslie Barrington and Candy Plog and citing student survey metrics included in the proclamation. "I, Maureen Tobin, mayor of the City Of Lincoln Park, by virtue of the authority vested in me ... do hereby proclaim November 2025 as DECA month," the mayor said during the reading.
The council also congratulated the Lincoln Park High School varsity football team for advancing to the MHSAA playoffs under head coach Lamar Williams. Council members posed for photos with students and encouraged residents to attend the upcoming tree lighting and Fantasyland events.
Students from the high school drama program invited the public to a production of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull (adapted by Enya Reyes) next Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. "Now our production of The Seagull is a production that not a lot of high schools do... we firmly invite you to attend our production," said Gianni Espinosa of the theater program.
Council members used the opportunity to thank volunteers, promote the Education Foundation fall fundraiser, announce a tentative Dec. 9 property‑tax workshop at the library, and note other community events including the Veterans Day bell ringing at the museum.
The council adjourned with reminders about holiday volunteering and the tree lighting schedule.
