Geary County jail reports average daily population of 109 and recent incident counts

Dan Zeller, jail major for the Geary County Sheriff's Department, gave the biweekly report covering Oct. 22–Nov. 4 and provided staffing and incident metrics to commissioners.
Zeller reported an average daily population of 109 and said the jail recorded 21 accidents and 40 assists to outside agencies during the period. He reported one battery/assault investigation (one account), zero burglaries, zero motor-vehicle-theft incidents and zero listed *** offenses. The jail served 169 civil papers and issued 47 citations; staff handled six domestic incidents and two drug investigations. The jail conducted 15 transports, logged one shots-fired incident that included one death call, completed 203 traffic stops with 32 arrests, and recorded a total of 673 calls for service (541 primary incidents and 132 additional calls).
Commissioner 1 (unnamed) asked Zeller to provide a total annual count after the first of the year so commissioners could better understand workload; Zeller agreed to supply cumulative numbers by the first of the year.
No policy decisions were made based on the report. The figures were presented for information and routine oversight.
