On Nov. 11 the Woodhaven‑Brownstown School District Board approved multiple personnel recommendations across support staff and schedule B academic and athletics positions.
Support staff: The board approved employment of paraprofessionals and a student advocate effective on noted dates, including Tiffany Barker (Wagenka Elementary paraprofessional), Lauren Collins (Wagenka), Tiffany Hamilton (Yake Elementary paraprofessional), Victoria Houghton (Yake student advocate), Maria Macea (Wagenka), Mara Perez (Waginka/Wagenka paraprofessional), and Amina Salah (Irving Elementary paraprofessional). Roberts, speaking about one candidate, noted partnerships that helped build the candidate pool and welcomed Tiffany Hamilton to the district.
Schedule B academic and athletics employments: Per the WBEA collective bargaining agreement, building principals filled open schedule B academic positions and provided the board with a list of hires; the board approved those employments in mass. The board also approved athletic schedule B employments, naming coaches for middle school competitive cheer and girls soccer among others.
Motions to approve these recommendations were made and approved by voice votes (support staff: motion by Berry, supported by Chopak; academic schedule B: motion by Berry, supported by Dobek; athletics schedule B: motion by Berry, supported by Sanders). The approvals were presented as routine personnel actions consistent with district hiring procedures and collective bargaining rules.
