Students describe Oviedom/Avidum program and 'Dreaming Forward' workshop to board

Student leaders from Pottsgrove presented two student-led mental-health initiatives during the meeting: Oviedom/Avidum and Dreaming Forward. The club's president said the group grew from roughly 10 members to become one of the largest clubs at the high school and described the club’s goals as reducing stigma and supporting peers.
Students outlined an upcoming "talk workshop" hosted at the MCIU Center that will include leaders from about six schools and said Pottsgrove was chosen to lead a workshop because it is the largest Avidum club in Montgomery County. They also described related activities including a Giving Tree holiday gift program and plans to expand programming into the middle school.
Separately, Dreaming Forward student presenters summarized exercises used at a county session (hexagon activity, card-based discussions and a belonging-needs worksheet) and said the program aims to strengthen student voice, self-awareness, leadership and relationship skills. Students said they will hold three more sessions at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and are exploring creating a local club to sustain the work.
Board members thanked students and administrators noted partnerships with MCIU and other districts; Superintendent Dr. Finney and advisers were recognized for supporting student mental-health programming.
