Cromwell schools mark Veterans Day and honor staff; student Andrew Matrullo recognized

Superintendent Doctor Macri and school principals recounted Veterans Day assemblies and classroom activities at Cromwell High School, Cromwell Middle School, Woodside, and Edna C. Stevens School, including breakfasts, assemblies, student-created poppy displays, veteran visitors and student-made thank-you cards. Administrators noted multiple events across grade levels and community participation.
The board also recognized the CMS student support services team — school psychologists, counselors, social workers and ESS clinicians — for their role in student well-being. Two staff members came forward to accept the board’s appreciation.
Separately, the board recognized eighth-grader Andrew Matrullo from Cromwell Middle School for consistent leadership inside athletics and activities. Staff described his cross-country achievements and steady role-model behavior; he received thanks and brief remarks from board members.
These recognitions were presented as reports and community updates, not formal actions. The board encouraged continued community participation in upcoming dedication and district events.
