Rockbridge County board adopts appropriation resolution, renews lease and reappoints community board member

The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors took several routine but consequential actions at its Nov. 10 meeting.
County Administrator Spencer Suter reported total bills for the period of $4,493,151.06 and explained that $16,000 of that request was for courthouse improvements (benches) tied to flood repair work. The board adopted the county appropriation resolution as presented.
During a public hearing, County Attorney Mr. Dryden explained that the county owns certain flood‑mitigation parcels purchased under a grant; grant terms require the county to offer leases back to owners or subsequent purchasers. Tenants of three lots requested renewal; no members of the public spoke and the board approved the lease renewal.
The board reappointed Miss Kendall to the Rockbridge Area Community Service Board (term expiring Dec. 31, 2025) after she indicated a willingness to continue serving and no other applications were pending. The board also announced a vacancy on the TCO (term expires July 8, 2029) and solicited applicants via the county website.
A motion to accept monthly staff reports was made and approved. The meeting agenda included reminders of a joint meeting Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Innovation Center and a veterans parade the following morning starting at Oak Grove Cemetery and ending at the new veterans memorial.
