Hartland board directs staff to draft ordinance expanding registered-offender residency buffer

Trustee comments emphasized balancing safety and available housing; one trustee flagged potential legal exposure and advised caution to avoid litigation.
Motion and next steps: a trustee moved to direct staff to prepare an ordinance revision (including maps for review) and to bring it back to the village board for the required three readings. The motion passed unanimously. At subsequent readings the board may refine the exact distance, and staff indicated larger-format maps would be provided to trustees for review.
