Roxbury abatement near completion; district hopes students return around winter holiday

Furnishings that could be salvaged have been cleaned, bagged and staged in the Roxbury gymnasium; carpeting and other paid materials are on site and ready for installation. The superintendent described a phased reconstruction approach — crews doing ceilings, then lighting, then floors — with each task taking approximately two weeks but overlapped to shorten total time.
Testing of abatement work is next; the superintendent said that provided testing clears the building, the district hopes students can return to Roxbury 'around the winter holiday' (the district explicitly declined to commit to a specific date, saying it could be the week before or the week after winter break). The superintendent stressed safety and that the district will not rush reopening.
Action items related to Roxbury remain operational: completion of testing, contractor scheduling and materials installation. No formal vote was required.
