Holmen School Board approves agenda, consent items; recognizes student award and launches new website

The Holmen Board of Education convened at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 10 with all seven members present. The Board President declared a quorum and the board approved the published agenda after a motion by Chris Lau and a second from Khadija Islam.
There was no public participation. Dr. Mueller, the district superintendent, noted that the coming week is American Education Week and thanked staff for their work. “We do have a new district website,” Dr. Mueller said, asking anyone with issues to contact Travis Udell. Bridgette Todd Robbins reported that Emerson Stranglestein, a Holmen High School student, received an outstanding high school student award at a YWCA tribute. Barb Wench said the finance committee met before the board meeting and reached consensus on a referendum resolution that will come to the full board in an upcoming meeting.
The board approved the consent agenda on a motion by Maggie Smith and a second by Chris Lau. Administrative reminders included a board self-evaluation due Nov. 30, a Type A election notice to run in the Nov. 25 La Crosse Tribune, and an open house with ribbon-cutting events on Nov. 15. Chris Lau moved to adjourn, Khadija Islam seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
No votes on substantive contracts or budgets were recorded at the Nov. 10 meeting; two items presented (a UW–Whitewater field-experience contract and a Western Technical College MOU) were listed for the Nov. 24 consent agenda.
