Mayor thanks voters, urges safe winter preparations and reiterates support for school levies

At the Nov. 10 Wickliffe City Council meeting, the mayor opened his report by thanking residents for their support and saying he looks forward to serving for four more years.
He reminded residents that most city offices will be closed on Veterans Day and thanked veterans for their service, noting that police and fire services remain available. The mayor urged homeowners to change smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries and to service furnaces as weather turns cold, and he explained the fire department has programs to assist residents who lack detectors.
On municipal services, the mayor asked residents to avoid creating many small leaf piles and suggested using Kimbell containers for small amounts to allow the service department to reach more homes efficiently.
Addressing recent questions about his position on a local school levy, the mayor said, "I have always supported school levies by voting for them," but added that he respects that households face different financial circumstances and cannot tell citizens how to vote. He said he remains committed to supporting local schools.
He also announced that Lenore Bridal will join the building department as a fully certified building inspector beginning Nov. 17, strengthening departmental capacity.
