Seat Pleasant’s City Council on Nov. 10 approved several ordinances and budget actions. The council moved to adopt an updated property maintenance code (ordinance O‑26‑04) that incorporates the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code with localized modifications. A motion to approve the ordinance passed after the council discussed updating to future versions when they become available.
The council also approved an ordinance amending Chapter 10 (code enforcement) to rename sections and align titles with current positions (O‑26‑06). The council discussed existing enforcement gaps and statutory limits and approved the ordinance.
In addition, the council moved and adopted a budget amendment (O‑26‑05) addressing a FY2025 item (repayment of an internal revenue service overpayment). The motion passed; one vote was recorded as an abstention (vote recorded as 5 in favor, 1 abstain).
During the meeting the council emphasized that passage of ordinances requires administrative partnership to implement policy. Council members noted prior examples where administrative delays added costs to county projects and urged staff and external agencies to prioritize implementation and accountability.
All formal votes and ordinance titles were read into the record; council members asked staff to continue working on implementation steps where necessary.
