Owner Jose Mendoza, who said he was the original owner and began building on the lot in 1974, explained that the lot shape constrained construction and described plans to trim trees near the proposed addition. “We already have plans to trim the trees,” he said. Commissioners pressed staff and the owner about safety and future maintenance; the board discussed options such as redesigning the slab or leaving an open carport to avoid cutting post-tension slabs.
After discussion a motion to approve (mover recorded as David Lopez, second by Albert Lagunas) passed and the variance was APPROVED. The staff presentation, applicant testimony and the board’s approval were recorded in the meeting minutes.
